And they do exist: women’s shoes which are suitable for motorcycling but don’t look at all like motorbike boots. The Vanucci *VUB-5 Sympatex Lady* sneakers are just what you need thanks to their special women’s fit and classic sneaker design. They are even certified as motorbike boots! Made from suede leather, with a textile liner, rubber sole and Sympatex climate membrane – individual components which sound brilliant. The Vanucci *VUB-5 Sympatex Lady* have inside zips on the sides to make it easier to put them on. Impressed? If so, have fun!

These breathable boots are windproof and waterproof. However, the boots are only breathable with functional socks. While cotton socks retain moisture, functional socks first transport sweat and moisture away from the foot into the boots. The breathable boot membrane then takes over and transports the moisture completely out of the boots, thus ensuring breathability.

The membranes are manufactured from different base materials, depending on the brand, and are made either as a loose "liner", as a laminate (bonded to the outer material), or as a coating on a carrier material.
The SympaTex membrane is made of polyester, and transports water vapour molecules outwards by means of chemical reactions. Different materials are tailored to the various applications in the field of motorcycle clothing.
All climate membranes are sensitive to mechanical damage: if a membrane is pierced, clearly it can no longer provide protection. Damage can also result from the use of inappropriate washing agents. Softeners, including those contained in detergents, damage the membrane irreparably!
